Service line 01 — Advice and interim leadership
Management & Consulting
Risk management, business continuity and crisis management: we advise senior management and, where needed, take on interim leadership.
The three disciplines
Risk management reduces the likelihood of an incident, business continuity management keeps operations able to act, and crisis management takes the lead when the exceptional happens.
01 Risk management 02 Business continuity management 03 Crisis managementRisk management or business continuity? Risk management and business continuity management are often lumped together. They differ in everything that matters: timing, objective and method.
Risk management
- Preventive: aims to stop the event from happening
- Targets likelihood and extent of damage
- Looks ahead, across the whole company
- Covers strategic, operational, financial, regulatory and reputational risks
- Works with models and probabilities
Business continuity management
- Reactive: takes effect once the event has occurred
- Targets recovery and maximum tolerable downtime
- Looks at the moment of disruption, along critical processes
- Covers the processes without which operations stop
- Works with impacts, not probabilities
The dividing line is responsibility. In management, we take on the position — with budget, authority and accountability for results. In consulting, we support senior management with analysis, concepts and decision papers. Responsibility stays where it is.
